Back in the '90s when I was in high school, my friends and I spent many hours at ValuVillage, combing through racks of old clothes, hoping to find that perfect vintage tshirt. To us, the ulitmate find was a super-soft, worn-in garment. The ink was slightly faded from years of washing. The graphic was simple yet compelling. The fit was loose but still slightly fitted. I had a fair collection of these gems … but as the years went by the thrift stores became picked-over and I longed for more awesome t-shirts! In 2009 I started screenprinting my own stuff … nostalgic for those vintage pieces, I chose amazingly soft shirts in vintage tones and designed my own art to reflect that same aesthetic. That hobby became ArkieStyle, and I still strive for that vintage feel and look. Softness is a MUST and I still love to create my own art. I do all my own printing right in my laundry room. All the ink is water-based, which means a much softer hand and ultimately a more faded, worn-in look.
