My name is Stephen Baird. I grew up in Colorado and feel in love with pottery my freshman year of college at the University of Northern Colorado. That was way back in 1987. I graduated with a BFA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and began to concentrate on functional/utilitarian pottery. After graduating from IUP I was awarded an assistantship to attend Arkansas State University and earned an MA. I eventually made my way to NWA in 1996 and was able to set up a studio in my home in Fayetteville shortly after. There was a period of a few years in which my studio was disassembled and in storage, thankfully in the last few years I have been able to rebuild my home studio and start making pots again in Springdale. What I make now is a culmination of all those years and experiences. My pots are meant to be used daily, washed in the dishwasher, and heated in the microwave. Of course they are food and drink safe.
