May We Fly
My name is Leana Fischer, and I’m an artist, designer, and instructor in Fayetteville, Arkansas. May We Fly is my watercolor studio and stationery shop. As an artist, my primary goal is to delight in simple joys and celebrate the beauty that I find every day. I try to keep my eyes opened to the world around me and share what I see with others. I do that through painting, drawing, and teaching. My background is in architecture, so my work is largely influenced by my design training. I have an eye for simple lines and patterns, which is what I love most about creating botanical artwork. I'm endlessly fascinated by natural rhythms and and strive to capture both the structured patterns and playful whimsy of the beautiful things I discover. Watercolor, known for both its limitations and unpredictability, is my preferred medium for achieving this effect.
After several years of working in architecture professionally, I felt the need to rekindle my love for painting and drawing, which was a big part of my architecture school experience. I began May We Fly in 2014 as a way to start selling some of my artwork, and slowly but surely, it has grown from there. I now have a local studio, teach watercolor workshops, and sell my artwork worldwide. My wonderful community here in Fayetteville has been a large part of getting May We Fly off the ground. They're support and enthusiasm for local artists and makers makes it possible for people like me to pursue their artwork as a career.
