I bought my first sewing machine in March of this year and instantly fell in love with sewing. After some major life changes I was lucky to find this new hobby which turned out to be a good outlet for my creativity and very therapeutic at the same time. Origami, the ancient Japanese art of folding paper, has been my favorite art form since childhood. I decided to marry my interest in origami and sewing and was instantly smitten with the complex boxes and bags created using just a simple square or rectangular piece of fabric. Most of what I make are traditional patterns with additional little touches of my own – special buttons to create pockets, adding some hardware like grommets, small customizations, or experimenting with different kinds of straps. My short term goal is to develop my own original origami-inspired designs and share my love of fabric and origami with others in Arkansas.
