I combine exotic tropical plants and cactus with up-cycled, recycled, vintage, found and foraged materials to design living wall and table top sculptures that surprise and entertain and celebrate ecology and the natural environment. The materials I use are sourced from the woods and waters around my country home, from charity oriented thrift shops, on the street, and the occasional dumpster dive. I have a small scale home-based plant nursery and these living beings are in and of themselves the ultimate in artistry – nature is the true crafter here, I am just in partnership. I feel privileged to care for these green beings, give them funky habitats, and send them out in the world to live with other people. Likewise with the findings I pair them with; forlorn toys, pieces of craftwork from the past, river stones and gnarly driftwood, thrift store kitsch and construction site scraps and whatever catches my eye from having spirit in it. Sky House: organic, low-tech, funky, junky, earthy, living sculptures.
