Soundscape Studio was born at the cross section of my two biggest interests — music and design. I’m a working graphic designer based in Fayetteville, AR who has played piano for over 10 years. What started as a one-off print project for my wife (also a designer) to help her understand music structure quickly turned into a series of songs and a newfound interest in experimental music notation. Each color represents a different note. Lighter colors denote higher pitches, and the colors change as the pitch modulates. The rhythm is shown through the length of each shape. A whole note is an inch long and each subsequent note is a fraction equal to its value. The top line represents the melody, and the bottom line represents the chords in the bass line.
