I am an Illustrator, fine artist, and an Arkansas native. I love the mystery of the deep forests and flora and fauna of the south. My wife, Jessica Robin, and I collect old children’s books, and I love to play in that visual vocabulary. I had been producing individual paintings for gallery shows, but In 2016 I was given an old broken-down Risograph printer which is like a small, ill-registering, offset press – the perfect thing to reproduce the look of 1950’s children’s books. After getting it running again, I have been hand printing art prints and Halloween decorations with it. I feel like It gives me a chance, not just to reproduce a painting, but to create a new object, which, because of the connection to the Riso printing process- with all its quirks, becomes its own piece of art. My wife creates Velveteen rabbits which live beautifully in the illustrated collection I make.
